French A Level AQA

A-level French through AQA helps students develop confident, effective communication skills in French and a thorough understanding of the culture of countries and communities where French is spoken. It develops an interest in, and enthusiasm for, language learning and encourages students to consider their study of the language in a broader context.

This specification requires students to develop their ability to write and speak in French with accurate grammar and syntax for a range of purposes and to understand written or spoken French in a variety of contexts and genres.

Students have the opportunity to do work experience with Blue Stamp Travel during year 12. This is an amazing chance for them to build their confidence and have a completely different experience using what they have learnt. Some of our students have even chosen to stay with French families while they have been abroad which has helped them to get even more out of the experience.

Many of our students go on to continue studying French at university, spend time in the French speaking world and go on to use it in their future careers.

Although at the start of any languages A Level students are often nervous, they quickly grow in confidence. There’s always a positive and focused environment in our A Level lessons and students really support each other throughout their time at AGS.
