Years 7, 8 and 9
The Music Department
The Music department is a lively and active team. We seek to deliver musical, challenging, and exciting lessons that equip students with the skills, knowledge, and understanding needed to become successful musicians. We passionately believe in the need to enthuse and engage students in real musical experiences, and to develop creativity within our students.
The three core areas in music; performing, composing and listening/understanding, are at the heart of our KS3 curriculum alongside the study of theory, musicianship and history. These are taught through a variety of genres, using a range of instruments: guitars, keyboards, voices, African djembes, tuned and untuned percussion, and the student’s own instrument.
KS3 students are able to learn music technology (Sibelius and Cubase) through our extra-curricular programme and KS4 and KS5 students are taught this in their music lessons.
